19th Tripartite Golf Friendly
The 19th Tripartite Golf Friendly was held on 22 July 2012 at the Orchid Country Club. This annual event is a highlight of the tripartite calendar, jointly organised by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) to foster closer rapport and partnership among employers, government officials and union leaders.
This year, some 180 golfers led by NTUC Secretary-General Lim Swee Say, Minister of State for Manpower & National Development Tan Chuan-Jin and SNEF President Stephen Lee participated in the event. Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong also graced the occasion as Guest-of-Honour. After a light lunch, the event kicked off at 1.30pm via shotgun start. The game was played under Double Peoria Stableford rules among the three groups – Unions, Employers, and Government.
Capping a sunny and breezy day of golf was a dinner cum lucky draw, which was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance and Minister for Manpower Tharman Shanmugaratnam. Organising committee chairman Cyrille Tan (Consultant, UWEEI) took centre stage again this year with his humorous emceeing and delighted guests to no end.
This year, the Union group won the Challenge Trophy with the best overall score of 180 points. Congratulations to all the winners!
