STF Dialogue with Prime Minister on "Saving Jobs and Creating Growth In A Global Downturn"

The STF partners organised the STF Dialogue on "Saving Jobs and Creating Growth in a Global Downturn" on 22 February 2009 which was attended by more than 600 unionists, employers and government officials. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong delivered the key-note address and spoke on Singapore's efforts in meeting the challenges brought about by the economic downturn.
 
PM and Manpower Minister, Mr Gan Kim Yong also unveiled the Professional Skills Programme (PSP) targeted to assist PMETs upgrade their skills to stay in their current jobs or find new ones if they are retrenched. 
 
The dialogue included a panel discussion chaired by Mr John DePayva, President of National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), together with PM Lee Hsien Loong, Mr Stephen Lee, President of Singapore National Employers Federation, Mr Lim Swee Say, Secretary-General of NTUC, Mr Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Manpower, Mr Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Trade and Industry, and Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Finance.
